Knights Volleyball Set for Return to The Castle
Friday, Sept. 26 | 6 p.m. | The Castle | Greek Night
The Southern University at New Orleans volleyball team is back home Friday night for a non-conference clash with Louisiana Christian. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside The Castle, where the Knights will celebrate Greek Night. Admission is $5, while SUNO students get in free with a valid ID.
SUNO (2–10, 0–4 GCAC) enters the match on the heels of its most convincing performance of the season, sweeping Texas College 3–0 last weekend. The Knights are averaging 9.0 kills per set with 8.36 assists and nearly 15 digs per set on the year. Sophomore setter Taszia Adkinson has been the steady hand, dishing out 5.71 assists per set while also leading the team in service aces (15). Freshman middle blocker Samaria Berry has anchored the net with 35 total blocks, while junior libero Armoni Harris paces the defense with 4.60 digs per set.
Louisiana Christian (stats via lcwildcats.net) comes into Friday's matchup with a balanced attack that has shown flashes of efficiency, but consistency has been a challenge. The Wildcats lean on aggressive serving and opportunistic play at the net to stay in sets.
The key for SUNO will be first-ball contact — if the Knights can serve tough and pass clean, their offense has the pieces to string together runs. With Greek life filling the bleachers, the energy inside The Castle should give SUNO a boost as it looks to secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
