Hicks Earns Second Freshman of the Week Honor

Southern University at New Orleans' basketball player Jaylon Hicks earned player of the week honors for his performances during the opening weekend of conference play. The Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference made the announcement late last week, highlighting the top players in the league for the week of November 17-23. Hicks was named HBCUAC Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.

Hicks posted 10.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, three assists to help the Knights to two HBCUAC victories. In Thursday's victory over Huston-Tillotson he put up six points and 10 rebounds. On Saturday, he put up 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists. For the week, Hicks shot 41.2 percent from the field and 44.4 from 3-point territory.

The Knights return to action December 4 to take on Wiley University. The doubleheader matchup will be held inside of Wiley's Alumni Gymnasium with the women tipping off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on Urban Edge Network.
