Geraldo, Matthews Sweep HBCUAC Weekly Honors After Breakout Debut Weekend

After an impressive first weekend in a Knights uniform, Jhemmal Geraldo and Jason Matthews were recognized by the HBCU Athletic Conference on Monday, as Geraldo was named HBCUAC Baseball Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, while Matthews earned HBCUAC Freshman of the Week honors.

The duo played a pivotal role in helping the Knights earn a weekend split, defeating Morehouse Friday and a Sunday victory over Lane College.

Geraldo made an immediate impact at the plate, finishing the weekend 5-for-7 with a double, triple, two runs scored, and one RBI across two games. He posted an impressive 1.143 slugging percentage, consistently delivering quality at-bats and extra-base power in key moments. His offensive production was instrumental in the Knights' win over Lane, showcasing his ability to change the game from the top of the lineup.

On the mound, Matthews delivered a poised and efficient performance in his collegiate debut. The freshman earned the win against Lane College, working five innings while striking out seven batters. He allowed just three hits and two runs, with only one run earned, demonstrating command, composure, and the ability to miss bats in pressure situations.
