Bowens, Guerin and Nunez Earn Preseason All-HBCUAC First Team Honors
Southern University at New Orleans Baseball had three players recognized for their standout performances and impact heading into the new season, as outfielder Miles Bowens, outfielder Braylon Guerin, and pitcher Christopher Nunez were named to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Baseball Preseason All-HBCUAC First Team.
Bowens, a senior outfielder, is coming off a strong postseason run in which he earned All-Tournament honors. He finished the season ranked fifth in the conference with nine home runs and 51 RBI, serving as a key run producer in the heart of the Knights' lineup.
Guerin, an outfielder who transferred to SUNO from Dillard, was previously a Second Team All-HBCUAC selection. He will provide a steady offensive presence for the Knights, bringing consistency, experience, and versatility to the outfield.
On the mound, Nunez made history during the conference tournament, earning All-Tournament honors after throwing the first postseason no-hitter in HBCUAC history. He went 2–0 in eight appearances, anchoring a pitching staff that rose to the occasion during the postseason.
"These honors speak volumes about the work these young men have put in and the standard we are building in our program," said Head Coach Olen Parker, Jr. "Miles, Braylon, and Christopher have all proven they can perform at a high level, especially in big moments. Their leadership and competitive spirit will be critical as we move into the new season."
The Knights are coming off a 2025 campaign in which they finished as the HBCUAC Conference Championship Tournament Runners-Up and advanced to the NAIA Regionals. SUNO totaled 395 runs, posted a .294 team batting average, and recorded 118 stolen bases over 48 games, showcasing a balanced offensive attack. Defensively and on the mound, the Knights produced two shutouts and continued to develop depth across their pitching staff.
SUNO Baseball opens the 2026 season on February 6 against Morehouse College, hosting the inaugural Ron WashingtonClassic at Wesley Barrow Stadium & MLB Youth Academy.
